This is very similar to a standard .1" header strip except that it is long on both sides. This can be extremely useful as it lets you plug two female connectors together, so you can avoid using male crimp terminals altogether. If you prototype using breadboards you will find these priceless as they'll let you add headers to your breadboard as pictured below. Comes in 1x40 pin strips which are easily broken into smaller sections.
