Our Series IWP Flexible LED Strips are identical to the Series I but have a protective epoxy coating which makes them waterproof and resistant to chemicals and contaminants. The epoxy coating makes these strips rather heavy so they may not be appropriate for some aircraft, but would be well suited for RC cars as well as general lighting applications for home & business. The epoxy coating is sturdy enough that the strips can be stepped on without damage, and they can easily be wiped clean. The epoxy coating makes assembly slightly more involved since the coating has to be carefully removed with a knife before you can solder to the strip. Strips include a 3M double sided adhesive on the back, and can be cut to length using scissors. Series IWP Strips utilize the best and brightest LED's and are available in 6 colors and RGB (red-green-blue). These strips are designed for 12V operation but will begin to illuminate as low as 6V, so a number of different battery configurations can be used (a 3S Lipo would work well).
Our new batch of these LED strips have a much thinner, more flexible coating, shown in the seventh through tenth images below. If weight is a concern for your project, please let us know and we will fill your order from the new batch.
In the third image below you can view the colors from left to right: red, green, blue, yellow, cool white, and warm white. The camera doesn't capture the full vibrance/trueness of the colors, but should give you a good idea. The sixth and tenth images show the RGB strip which has three LED's in each die and is capable of generating a rainbow of colors.
Each color can be purchased in 1, 2, 4, 8, or 16ft lengths (please see specs below for exact lengths). The 16ft length is the maximum length available and will be shipped on a plastic reel. Strips of same or different colors can easily be soldered end-to-end (ie red, white, and blue). We also sell a sample pack which includes a single section (3 LED's) of each color (including RGB). If you order a reel it will come with a short wire lead already soldered to the end of the strip, and each end will be factory sealed with a silicone end cap. Shorter cut lengths and sample packs may or may not have end caps and leads.
